New report warns of growing national security threat to U.S. as China builds AI: 'Significant and concerning'
FIRST ON FOX: A pro-tech advocacy group has released a new report warning of the growing threat posed by China's artificial intelligence technology and its open-source approach that could threaten the national and economic security of the United States. The report, published by American Edge Project, states that "China is rapidly advancing its own open-source ecosystem as an alternative to American technology and using it as a Trojan horse to implant its CCP values into global infrastructure." "Their progress is both significant and concerning: Chinese-developed open-source AI tools are already outperforming Western models on key benchmarks, while operating at dramatically lower costs, accelerating global adoption. Through its Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which spans more than 155 countries on four continents, and its Digital Silk Road (DSR), China is exporting its technology worldwide, fostering increased global dependence, undermining democratic norms, and threatening U.S. leadership and global security." The report outlines how Chinese AI models censor historical events that could paint China in a bad light, deny or minimize human rights abuses, and filter criticism of Chinese political leaders.

6 Era Altering AI and ML Trends to Watch Out for in 2022
Artificial Intelligence doesn't need to be a grim topic to discuss. Replete with possibilities to become the most transformative tool in the years to come, AI is fast shaping into an assistive resource instead of staying on course as an overwhelming tech. Clubbed with Machine Learning algorithms and principles of Data Mining, AI is rapidly moving towards a summit way too steep for human contemplation. But then, AI and Machine Learning discussions need not be as complex as the tech itself. AI, in its entirety, is expected to be an industry and business commonplace in the next few months to come, and therefore, it is important to check out some era-altering current trends in AI that might gain a lot of traction moving into 2022.

Smart hospitals to deploy over 7 million IoMT devices globally by 2026: Research - Express Healthcare
A new study by Juniper Research has found that smart hospitals will deploy 7.4 million connected Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) devices globally by 2026; over 3,850 devices per smart hospital. This global figure represents total growth of 231 per cent over 2021, when 3.2 million devices were deployed. The concept of the IoMT involves healthcare providers leveraging connected devices such as remote monitoring sensors and surgical robotics to improve patient care, staff productivity, and operational efficiency. The research identified smart hospitals in the US and China as leading the global adoption of IoMT devices; accounting for 21 per cent and 41 per cent of connected devices respectively, by 2026. It highlighted digital healthcare initiatives implemented during the ongoing pandemic and high levels of existing digitalisation within healthcare infrastructure as key to these countries' leading positions.

UAE, China, India, lead in global adoption of robotics, according to Oracle
People have more trust in robots than their managers, according to the second annual artificial intelligence at Work study conducted by Oracle and Future Workplace, a research firm preparing leaders for disruptions in recruiting, development and employee engagement. The study of 8,370 employees, managers and HR leaders across 10 countries, found that artificial intelligence has changed the relationship between people and technology at work and is reshaping the role HR teams and managers need to play in attracting, retaining and developing talent. Contrary to common fears around how artificial intelligence will impact jobs, employees, managers and HR leaders across the globe are reporting increased adoption of artificial intelligence at work and many are welcoming artificial intelligence with love and optimism. Research findings are based on a global survey conducted by Savanta between July 2 to August 9, 2019. In total, 8,370 completed the survey.
